This is the English version of the German project "Historischer Münchberg Weg" (HMW) in Jefferson City's (Missouri, USA) partner city Münchberg (Bavaria, Germany).
A path through Münchberg along historic buildings and places that can be explored independently without a city guide leads you through the history of our city. You will find the routes and explanations at the beginning on an information board with designations placed along the route. On the "Historic Münchberg Way" (HMW) attention is also drawn to famous Münchberg citizens.
In addition, during the course of the path, new and historic shots of the respective stations along the way, videos and 3 D models of no longer existing structures are given in the internet. These graphics and detailed infotexts can be used through our websites and Google Earth. Those who are interested can also get additional information online and pull up the route in real time.
The HMW route and more than 40 local pop up windows with links to detailed informations about each station can be clicked in Google Earth by a KMZ file.
References to the respective stations are also available as QR codes by place.
There are also audio data for some stations. In these audio segments stories from the past will be told.
In addition there are aerial views of the HMW stations which can be seen as single videos or in a combination as a full movie.
Duration and points of the path vary. In addition to the main route there are options, which can be explored according to one’s interests.
One can also access the HMW in Google Earth. There the course of the path with historic buildings and information about the stations can be accessed.
The brochure “Historische Gebäude in Münchberg" (Historic Buildings in Münchberg) is available as a supplement to the comments along the HMW. Guided historic city tours with explanations as well as extensive background information about city history and interesting sites can also be booked. Detailed descriptions of the respective HMW stations are available online.
