The corner stone of the current Catholic church was laid in 1905. On December 16, 1906 the church was entrusted to the Vicar General of the archdiocese of Bamberg. The Most Reverend Prelate of Maurer-Bamberg was entrusted with the religious services. The cost of building amounted to 100,580 Marks. The later mayor, Max Specht, worked as a handy man on the building of the church and received his wage of 10 Pfennige, according to the rates of the time.

Christening of bells 1922In April of 1914 they heard the peal of the more than 1,550 kilogram heavy-weight bell, which had already fallen victim to the First World War. The Catholic community, in the meantime, had grown to around 700 souls. In the first months of the war, in December 1914, the Steinmeyer organ was given to the church and masterfully demonstrated by the dome organist of Bamberg, Valentin Höller. A new one in 1998 replaced this one. The altar from 1920 made of limestone was changed later. In 1922 four new steel bells were mounted (photo right). The church in Münchberg was given a colorful painting in 1929, which was, of course, redone after the war. In 1934 the title “Pastor” was given to the trustee and the trusteeship of Münchberg was raised to the pastorate on July 1, 1937.

The time following the war brought many Catholics to the area who had been driven from their homes. In the years from 1945 until around 1952 much physical and emotional suffering had to be mitigated. The number of souls climbed to around 6,000 after the currency reform. The Catholic life took a tremendous upswing. The Catholic organizations and societies such as the Workers’ Association, the Kolping Family founded in 1950, and the local associations of the Catholic Women’s’ Union 1951 provided for this.

Under Reverend Carl Spörlein the Church "To Holy Family" was renovated in 1962. Due to the new liturgical order for churches some conversions have been carried out since 1971. So the altar, the confessionals, the baptismal font, figures and furnishings were redesigned. The church received a warm air heated floor as well as new ventilation and electrical installations. A special holiday for the "Holy Family" Parish of Münchberg was celebrated on October 7, 1973 when Auxiliary Bishop Martin Wiesend marched into the church and consecrated the new altar. At the same time, the newly built sacristy building with a youth room and day care center for the elderly was dedicated. In 1998 Prelate Hans Wich from Bamberg consecrated a new organ, since the previous instrument from 1914 was no longer functional. On the program was also a concert by the cathedral organist Markus Willinger.
