After the Second World War, 1949 endless streams of refugees arrived in the western occupied zones, as well as in Münchberg. Both of the elementary schools, Park School and Luther School, were pushed to their capacity. In 1949 “Petitions for Funds of New School Spaces” were presented.

The school underwent architectural changes in 1962 with the dedication of the gymnasium. An expansion planned in 1966 didn’t happen, but instead the expansion was completed in 1969. The school reform of 1968/69 brought various changes to the scholastic organization. The ninth school year was initiated. The Kreuzberg School would be elementary and part-time school in grades 1-6; until then there were 1 – 8 grades. In the following school year girls and boys were taught jointly for the first time.
For the first time in 1999/2000 the Kreuzberg School is a pure elementary school for grades 1-4.
